Move over Wolfgang Puck

He loved the Cozy Coupe from Uncle David. He gets in and shuts the door and tells me "bye". We will be able to take it outside when it thaws (that may be a while).

These are a couple more presents Luke received from his grandparents. He loved watching the kitchen being put together (thanks Frankie). He also liked it a lot when it was all put together. He started running for the room it is in. We have had to be a little creative with space. I moved some things out of our office and up to a spare room so he could have it on the ground floor for now. When he gets a little older, I am hoping to move it to the basement. This is the cutest kitchen in the world. It is well built and gender friendly-made by Kidkraft. I have been impressed with their things. Luke also has a table by the same company.

I bought him some balls from the $1 store and put them in a box. He loved it!

I think Luke really wanted to see Santa. He was up from 11-2:30 for some reason. Probably being out of our normal routine. Or maybe he wanted to spy Santa bringing some presents. Nonetheless, it was a tiring, but fun Christmas. What a different perspective through the eyes of a child. It made me wish I was one again. He was very lucky to receive so many gifts from many people. What a very lucky boy.

Ball, Ball, Ball

It doesn't matter the kind, this kid loves balls. We went to Quiznos' Annual Christmas Bowling party with the teenagers that work for Blaine last night. Luke loved it-the loud noise, the throwing of balls-everything!

He watched the bowlers and then would take his arm and swing it the same way they did. He did get to roll one ball at the end. How fun!

BOO HOO

Poor Cone Head...he had surgery this morning to remove his yucky glands. I don't even like to say the word. He is so groggy and really sad looking. He can't run for a week. I know right now he doesn't feel like it, but what happens in a few days when he starts getting hyper? Poor guy!

Winter Wonderland

I feel the same way Luke.

Not so much the snow part-but those freezing temperatures...

We run from the car to wherever-a store, the house. I know the cost of oil went down...how is the price of natural gas? Our bill could be scary this month. This picture was taken a block away on BLM land where we run our dog. This is our desert. Looking at the picture, it looks really beautiful.

Yesterday was Blaine's birthday and I tried to recreate a Carvel birthday cake. I even put the fudge and the cookie goodness in the center of the bottom chocolate layer and top vanilla layer. It was yummy, but not quite Carvel. How would I be able to ship a cake this far? If it is possible, I would really consider it.

Two more days for me of school. I don't know who is more excited about break-me or the students. Christmas Crazies have hit.

Visit with Ho Ho

When Luke says it there are only two "ho's". Well needless to say Luke continued the time honored tradition of screaming while seeing Santa. Hence, how we ended up in the picture looking the way we did-unprepared. He seems happy in it, however there was major screaming and tears. If Aunt Lynn reads this, does she recognize anything?

TREATS

I was away for two days at a conference. On my way back with a colleague I was sharing a cute story about Luke which she said I needed to share on my blog.

Luke now has the ability to reach and open the handle to the door of our pantry. It is huge. It is bigger than my closet. So everything is on higher shelves which he can't really reach if I care about it. He often goes in there grunting or ehhhing near where his graham crackers are. He also knows where Boo's treats are and wants to make sure Boo gets one as well.

One day he saw the box of Milk Bones and said "Boo" so I got one for him to give to Boo. Boo has the habit of always taking a treat to the same spot on our rug, which has always driven me crazy that he couldn't just eat it in the kitchen. Luke then looked at me for a treat of his own. I gave him a graham cracker. He quickly took it in his hands and ran to the same spot on the rug and sat down and ate his treat right there just like Boo. This was not an isolated incident and has been doing this a couple of times lately. I am not sure if he knows if he is a boy or dog?

HOT HOT HOT

His obsession-football. He cannot stop talking about it. Looking at the TV (on or off) and asking for it. Carrying one around with him and saying "hut, hut, hut". He also throws his hands in the air every so often and yells "touchdown!" It is difficult to believe this is my child, but when you look at his dad, it all makes sense.



He is getting so big- I can't believe it. Last year at this time he couldn't even sit up on his own. Now he can do so many things. We have been having a lot of fun and he makes me laugh all the time. He does things to be silly to make me laugh. How great is that!



He is getting in the Christmas spirit too. When he sees Santa, he says his version of "ho, ho, ho". He also reminded me to turn on some Christmas lights when we got home today. And he sings the fa la la la part of "Deck the Halls". (well sort of)

Well we have successfully helped Luke figure out when things are hot by saying the word over and over. Unfortunately he uses it to apply to the opposite as well. The video is of him licking an ice pop.

Guess what we have been doing?

Luke was very excited with the tree minus all decorations which then made me decide not to put up many for two reasons. One, he will break them. I have visions of Luke or Boo pulling the tree down. Two, it doesn't take much too impress him. We put our tree up the night before Thanksgiving since I have a little extra time this weekend.

We had a nice Thanksgiving. Luke and Blaine have a stomach virus so they both didn't eat much dinner.

I have many things to be thankful for this year. We are very lucky.

I have a small request. I have a friend who could use some good thoughts, prayers, good vibes...whatever you are into.

We Survived

After a long week and a half of using up all of our favors from everyone, I am happy that it is over. Our daycare provider went to see her daughter who had a baby. We were able to find someone to watch Luke, even if it was in shifts. It truly takes a village. He did quite well adjusting I thought. I am sure he will be very happy tomorrow when he goes to daycare and sees all of those familiar faces.

I am interested to see what he thinks of Thanksgiving dinner. I have a feeling he will be very excited by all of the food and action. We will be going to Blaine's aunt's house. I am sure he will also enjoy playing with all the kids too.

I see the Moon and the moon sees Me

Here's a post hair cut picture. He always looks so different to me after.

He loves to search for the moon each night out of our back door. Of course there is a problem when there is a new moon etc. I can't even say the word without him becoming obsessed with finding it. The video has a bonus of Luke also saying "Boo."

On other news he is doing some really cute new things. He is saying "night" or "bye" when it's bedtime and then does a sort of beauty queen wave as we walk up the stairs. He

also has started kissing. The other day he figured out how to make a fist with his hands and use it to knock on things to make sounds like knocking on a door. He was knocking on a table when he must have done it too hard. He looked at me with a wounded face. I kissed his fists to make them feel better. Then he took his own fists and kissed them too.

Bad Hair Days

I know he really needs another hair cut. For boys this is a whole new thing. Do I go with some sort of faux-hawk? Cut is short? Or let it grow? I can almost pull it into a pony tail-so I know it is time to do something. I just can't decide. Girls' hair seems so much easier to think about. Just let it grow.

On other thoughts-Luke has made up his mind about the election. He shows a preference to pictures and the candidates as they speak. I won't say who.

The good news is that Luke can easily say a scary word on Halloween. (Boo)

I was away for two days at an inservice and came back just in time to get Luke dressed to just hang out and see the trick-or-treaters. I can tell his costume means little to him and is more annoyed by the strap over the shoulder, but he humored me. At this point when I try to take pictures Boo is the best behaved and will stay while Luke lunges for me. Hmmm...

BAMM, BAMM!

This was on the way home. He just wouldn't let go of his club.

Today we went 'downtown' for our annual Halloween Stroll. Unlike last year, today we only needed light jackets. Unlike last year, Luke was aware of other kids being there. We walked around watching all the other kids trick-or-treat. He loved watching them and was very interested in all the craziness. Luke's favorite part was the Pumpkin Patch. He ran around looking at the balls aka pumpkins. It was such a nice day and we had a lot of fun.

P.S. I made the costume myself by hot gluing the fabric to a pair of summer shorts. I cannot sew, so this worked well. It was so easy and cheap!

Poor Boo!

A little Lenny or Squiggy like? Anyway it's a two-syllable word with two different sounding syllables. Pretty good huh? Sorry for the dark shot...but all you need is the sound.

We are thawing right now. I think this week will warm up a little just in time for the hat and mittens to arrive.

First Snow-Yes That's Right!

Can you believe it? I wanted to use a lot of explicatives this morning! It is a little more than we are used to as snow goes too. Blaine was the one who took him out. He said that Luke just wasn't sure what to think about it. Of course, Number One-Boo-loved it and danced outside when I let him out this morning. I have a feeling it's going to be a long winter!

L-U-K-E-Y

Thanks Walzes for the hat. He loves to wear it and look at himself in the mirror. His eye is healing nicely and we will be able to go swimming again tomorrow. Is it wrong that I secretly enjoyed the break?

I have one question for anyone with small kids-can you tell me the name of a good music CD for his age? I am wondering about the Wiggles. They drive me crazy, but he always dances to them.

All could have been titles. Luke decided to jump in front of a little boy at daycare on his scooter. I went to check on him at lunch. It was still bleeding so I brought him over to my school nurse. I am lucky that he is so close by. On the 30 second (literally) car ride back, he fell asleep. He was probably so tired from all the crying. At the end of the day, I ended up calling his doctor. He was so nice and quickly saw us. He glued Luke's cut shut. No stitches. Holding him down was the only time I really felt like crying. He was a trooper.
There may be a little scar above his left eye. Look out Vanilla Ice!

New Friends
They met on the dance floor...

It was a wonderful time for everyone. Our friends Kayci and Danny planned a fun outdoor wedding in a big tent at this ranch outside of Rock Springs. We stayed the night and were able to catch up with Blaine's old friends.

This is the place where Blaine, myself and some friends ate the night before Luke was born. The owners are enthusiastic about Luke everytime they see him. They take credit for the onset of labor because of the bumpy roads and pine nuts in the salad that night.
