My Boys

Since Blaine was out of town all weekend, we all spent some quality time together. We were out for a walk and Luke and I went to church by ourselves. This was a first. Let's just say that it was a good thing the musician couldn't make it so it was a short one.

Also the picture above of Luke in the swing-he has a phone up to his ear. Most of you will think he has picked this up from me...oh contraire (sp?)

An old picture, but you get the point.

He's reading already!

The book is about different "woofs" dogs make. So that is the sound he is making as he reads it to you. Isn't he brilliant! He also had several new words this week-mouth, keys, ball. He is working on getting two teeth as well. The ones next to the top front ones. We made it through the first week just fine, both of us. (well except how I backed into the garage door while it was opening and now it is coming off a hinge..) I am glad to have the long weekend. This working thing is tiring.

My FAVORITE time of the day

I love bath time. It is the one time my sole purpose is to just watch him and I can't multi-task. He loves his bath and is quite wild in it. We often both leave wet.
On other news, he adjusted instantly back to daycare. Blaine said he brought him in and his feet touched the floor. He was immediately swarmed with other kids petting him saying, "Baby Luke." He is the youngest there and was a baby last year so... Blaine said he smiled ear to ear at the kids and didn't even see Blaine leave. By the time I picked him up he was happy to see me but also happy as could be. He kept pointing outside and saying "ball." Apparently he was kicking and throwing the ball all day. He is having so much fun with the other kids. I just knew he would.
P.S. Shout out to Emma for the beautiful picture!

The Party is Over

Well, I go back to work tomorrow. I realize Luke will be fine and actually more entertained. The one who will have the harder time is me. "Luckily" I will be so busy I won't have time to think about it. We are finishing our summer with a picnic at my school tonight.

Move Over Beckham

It was a windy day yesterday but he was still able to bend it. I think Blaine might be a little disappointed in his enthusiasm for soccer. Isn't he so darn cute!

Small Spaces

I haven't installed the shelf yet because he likes to sit in here too much. Immediately he got into it when it came out of the box. I haven't tried yet myself, but I have a feeling I could fit in there too.

Me and my best friend

Although Luke doesn't always seem to like Boo's drive-by licks, I catch him snuggling up to Boo all the time. I believe they torment each other equally. Luke will take a toy and run up to him teasing him with it or just give it to him by placing it directly in his mouth. (How sanitary!) This is a picture of Luke laying on Boo's head, not butt.

Is it still summer?

This was taken tonight. It was a chilly day here. I am not sure if we made it into the 60's. I was cold. Blaine was still in shorts. I am not ready for summer to be over. I just realized I only have 1 week left until I return to work. :( I am sure Luke will enjoy his time with the other kids again though. Apparently I am pretty boring. However, I have lugged him around the neighborhood endlessly in this wagon which he loves!

Boo is a Blast

I bet you didn't know that Boo was this much fun!

First Hair Cut

Before

After

He didn't cry or scream or anything. He just ate his cookie. The best part was that he could watch himself eating. He was on the see food diet during the process.

Sitting

Not something I do a lot of anymore. This is the longest I have sat in months. Luke passed out so I caught some of the Olympics. It was a nice break as I would have probably been running around the entire nap. I think I really needed it.

Ferber=Sleep

Recently we (really I) read the Ferber book on sleeping. I want to retitle it to Solve your Parents' Sleep Problem. It was the best money I have ever spent on a book. He really has adjusted well to it without screaming for hours. Naps are better. Disposition is better. We are happy to have had full night's rest. My only regret is not reading the book sooner.

Me and You and a dog named Boo

I took these two buggers out by myself yesterday for a walk in the desert. Luke was in my favorite off-road stroller. (Thanks Mom.) And Boo was willy-nilly. I surprised myself that I could do it. I was afraid Boo would take off after something and I would be left with Luke. It all worked out fine and I was even able to get some exercise.

These are old pictures as Blaine left my camera at a friend's house.

New Addition

Our deck is done and we love it! We will NEVER have to stain it, which is definitely the best part. To boot, we were able to get a great bargain on the end of the season table and chairs.

Water Rat

We are very lucky to have free access to the pools in our town. We met some friends today at the pool. Luke loved it, but I am quite concerned about his socialization. He walks up to everyone-pretty lifeguards included. He greets them with a "Hiiiiiii." I am afraid he will leave with anyone who will take him.

Three Patches on Aspen Mountain

The view from our picnic area. We were the only ones up there. Surprise, surprise!

This picture is after our return and out of order and a complete lie. He basically screamed the entire time until he fell asleep. He is a really good actor and poser.
Luke was a dirt magnet today.

Luke and Abbie (birthday girl)

Luke is inspecting Tony's tires for proper inflation. He wants to make his grandpa B0bby proud.

Everybody gets by with a little help from a friend. Thanks Ava.

Chillin'

We had such a nice day bbqing with Blaine's extended family. Luke was especially happy to hang out with the other kids. I was especially happy they wanted to pull him in the wagon. Ewwww, I almost forgot and did not take a picture of Boo today. He rolled in a gigantic cow patty and used almost all the water everyone brought up. Blaine had the wonderful job of cleaning him. He rode in the bed of the truck home.

Birthday Cake

For those of you who didn't see it the first time, here's Luke eating (? throwing) his cake. I am amazed that EVERYTHING goes in his mouth except for yummy icing. We had a blast at his party. He is one VERY lucky guy. He received more gifts than a one year old should have. Thanks to all who gave or sent something :)

With Friends Like These...

Here is a recent picture of our trip to Denver and hanging out at Wash Park. It was such a nice trip and we really appreciated the hospitality of "Uncle Je- eff". Luke handled the drive pretty well thanks to a friend who travelled with us. I don't think I could have done it alone. It was also wonderful to see Jessica and Greg and all the other Falconers. Thanks to all of you for such a nice time. We miss you!
